Job summary

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) is seeking a Clinical Support Worker to help run fracture and elective orthopaedic clinics. You will provide a chaperone service to doctors, support patient care, and assist with splints and braces when trained and competent.

The role requires strong communication, numeracy and literacy, and flexibility to cover shifts across 7 days. A proactive, reliable approach and willingness to learn are essential in our busy, patient‑focused

Qualifications

• Evidence of good numeracy and literacy.
• Ability to cover a variety of shifts over 7 days a week including weekends and bank holidays.
• Care Certificate (mandatory within first 12 weeks).
• Evidence of passion for patient care.
• Brief knowledge of orthopaedic conditions.
• Be adaptable and use own initiative.
• Willingness to learn new skills.

Responsibilities

• Run clinics daily to maintain efficient patient flow in fracture and elective orthopaedics.
• Provide chaperone service to doctors during consultations.
• Assist patients with queries and personal care if needed.
• Fit splints, braces and other supports when trained and deemed competent.
• Ensure good communication and interpersonal interactions within the team.
