Job summary

Dex in London is seeking the first engineering hire to own foundational architecture, scalability, reliability, and core AI systems. You will work alongside the technical co-founder to take full ownership of the stack and set engineering standards as the company grows.

You will engage with field assessors, review live code, and design an architecture that scales with demand, with equity and a clear path to Head of Engineering or CTO as the team expands.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4+ years shipping end-to-end production systems.
• Architectural thinker with total code comprehension and quality control.
• Experience with AI coding agents or LLM apps.
• Ownership mindset and startup experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture, scalability, reliability, and security of the entire stack across web, mobile, and backend services.
• Design and refine the multimodal AI pipeline that processes on-site audio, images, and notes into structured, cited technical reports.
• Orchestrate multiple AI coding agents across parallel worktrees, maintaining architectural integrity and high code quality.
• Work directly with safety assessors to evaluate failure modes and ship immediate product improvements.
• Set the baseline for engineering culture, deployment pipelines, and early technical hiring as the company scales.
