Job summary

Dex in London is seeking a Founding Senior Engineer to own the desktop application, backend, and core algorithms for a proactive AI assistant. You will work directly with AI researchers in a small, high‑calibre team to build a complex system from first principles, not just integrate existing components.

You should have a PhD or demonstrable ownership of large, end-to-end technical projects, 5+ years building complex systems, and strong proficiency in TypeScript, Python, Rust, or C++.

Qualifications

• PhD or demonstrable ownership of a hard, end-to-end technical project.
• 5+ years building complex systems.
• Strong in TypeScript, Python, Rust or C++ and ability to learn new languages quickly.
• Experience shipping robust products end-to-end and working from user requests.
• Comfortable with cloud infrastructure and databases (SQL/NoSQL).
• Willingness to work in person in London five days a week.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the desktop application frontend and backend.
• Develop core algorithms bridging the AI model and user actions.
• Design and implement backend data ingestion and model maintenance systems.
• Collaborate with AI researchers to translate research into production features.
• Drive architectural decisions across the full stack from UI to data persistence.
