Job summary

Clariness is seeking an AI Security Engineer (f/m/d) to build, operate and continuously improve security across applications, cloud infrastructure and AI systems as our founding-level security hire. You will define the security engineering function, set priorities and work with engineering teams to embed effective security controls throughout our technology environment.

This role also covers governance for SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, EU AI Act obligations and risk mitigation for LLM-powered features,

Qualifications

• At least five years of hands-on experience in security engineering or information security.
• Proven experience building a security programme within a product engineering environment.
• Strong experience across application, cloud, secure SDLC and CI/CD security controls.
• Experience assessing, testing or implementing security controls for LLM-powered apps, RAG or agentic pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with AI agents, sandboxing, privilege controls and adversarial testing.
• Demonstrated compliance experience (SOC 2, GDPR, EU AI Act) with audit-ready documents.

Responsibilities

• Define Clariness' security engineering strategy and roadmap across applications, cloud security, AI and LLM security.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on secure system design, threat modelling and vulnerability remediation.
• Own AI security and governance for LLM features, RAG systems and agentic pipelines.
• Design and validate safeguards for AI agents, including sandboxing and access controls.
• Evaluate, deploy and improve AI-powered security automation and threat intelligence.
• Assess tools and develop custom solutions when needed.
• Manage Clariness' IT security compliance programme (SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, EU AI Act) and liaise with auditors.
