Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Staff Forward Deployed Engineer for the EMEA region, focusing on AI adoption, strategical customer outcomes, and production-quality code delivery. You’ll diagnose complex problems across product behavior, CI/CD workflows, and cloud environments, collaborating across Product, Engineering, SRE, and Customer Success teams.

You will contribute to GitLab’s product with Ruby on Rails or Go, work on agentic SDLC patterns, and help drive governance, security, and enterprise readiness

Qualifications

• Staff-level experience building, operating, or improving complex production software systems.
• Experience contributing to large, mature product codebases with high standards for testing, maintainability, performance, and security.
• Strong Ruby on Rails or Go experience and ability to contribute directly to GitLab’s product and adjacent systems.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development, agentic workflows, AI governance, model evaluation, context management, prompt and workflow design, or AI adoption in enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Contribute production-quality code to GitLab’s product and adjacent systems.
• Develop bug fixes, features, integrations, tooling, and performance improvements for strategic customer outcomes.
• Work within GitLab’s processes: issue discovery, MR creation, testing, review, documentation, maintainability.
• Coordinate with Product and Engineering to ensure customer-driven solutions support long-term product direction.
