Job summary

Aramark UK is recruiting a Food Service Assistant to join the team at Bicester’s HMP Bullingdon Staff Canteen. This role offers family-friendly hours, secure environment work, and clear opportunities for development.

You will support daily canteen operations, assist with food preparation and service, operate tills, and maintain high standards of customer care and food safety. The position is Monday–Friday 7:30am–2:00pm with on-site parking and benefits.

Qualifications

• A confident team player with excellent customer service skills.
• Previous catering, hospitality, or food service experience is desirable but not essential.
• Comfortable supporting and guiding a small team.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Reliable and professional approach to work.
• Ability to work effectively within a secure environment.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the day-to-day operation of the staff canteen
• Assisting with food preparation and service
• Supervising and supporting Enhanced Prisoners within the catering operation
• Operating tills and handling cash transactions accurately
• Preparing and serving drinks and food
• Maintaining high standards of customer service
• Supporting stock takes and stock control activities
• Ensuring cleaning schedules are completed and standards maintained
• Providing guidance and support to colleagues and new starters
• Maintaining food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards at all times
• Completing relevant records and operational paperwork

We are currently recruiting for a Food Service Assistant to join our team at HMP
Bullingdon Staff Canteen, Bicester, OX26 1PZ. This is a fantastic opportunity for a

What you'll be doing

Additional Information

• Applicants must have lived in the UK continuously for the past 5 years and have the legal right to work in the UK.
• Successful candidates must be able to pass full prison vetting and DBS checks before commencing employment.
• Ability to work within a custodial environment and follow all security procedures is essential.
