Job summary

James Hall & Co. Ltd. is seeking a Manufacturing Maintenance Engineer based at the Preston distribution centre to ensure safe and efficient operation of food processing assets.

You will perform a range of maintenance tasks across a busy site, contributing to continuous improvements and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The role involves reactive and preventative maintenance, hands-on engineering across multiple production areas, and participation in an on‑call rota to support

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification suitable for food processing maintenance or related FMCG applications.
• Flexible to participate in the on‑call rota and occasional out-of-hours.
• Hold a valid, clean UK driving licence — occasional travel between sites may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct reactive maintenance to address urgent issues or breakdowns across food processing assets.
• Complete planned and preventative maintenance to keep assets and facilities in optimal condition and minimise disruption.
• Perform hands-on repairs across domestic, commercial, and industrial locations within the distribution sites portfolio.
• Conduct routine inspections and identify improvement or repair opportunities ensuring safety and hygiene standards.
• Maintain accurate records using Microsoft Office 365—update job sheets, maintenance logs and reports.
• Collaborate with team members, contractors and site colleagues to ensure coordinated delivery of works.
• Participate in the Emergency On-Call rota to provide support outside regular hours.
