Job summary

Mars Petcare Melton Mowbray factory is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a high-speed FMCG environment. The role focuses on reducing downtime, fault finding, and leading root-cause analysis with ABB/Kuka robotics and SAP maintenance tools. The package features a salary of £50,900–£56,900 with shift allowances (DOE) plus a £2,500 welcome bonus, private healthcare, generous pension, life assurance, and extensive development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Higher Certificate or Higher Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline, with practical experience.
• Proven technical expertise in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.
• Strong problem-solving with root cause analysis experience.
• Proficient in Excel, PI ProcessBook, SAP Planned Maintenance.
• Experience in risk assessment and change control processes.
• Experience leading root cause analyses and fault-finding investigations.

Responsibilities

• Fault find and problem solve on a broad range of equipment.
• Delivery of maintenance activities to ensure production uptime.
• Participate in risk assessments and formulate safe method statements.
• Identify parts for purchasing to complete work.
• Fix breakdowns in a timely manner during shift.
• Level one problem solving including component failure analysis.
• Detailed entry into Atlas of all breakdowns/known jobs.

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified to a minimum of Higher Certificateor Higher Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline, supported by practical experience

• Proven technicalexpertisewithin a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.

• Strong problem-solving capability, with experience in root cause analysis of technical issues.

• Proficient in key systems and tools, including Microsoft Excel, PI ProcessBook, and SAP Planned Maintenance.

• Competent in risk assessmentand change control processes, ensuring compliance and safe working practices.

• Experienced in leading root cause analysisand fault-finding investigations to drive sustainable improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Ability to fault find and problem solveon a broad range of equipment in a variety of situations.

• Effective delivery of maintenance activities, to ensure smooth transition between maintenance and production availability of equipment.

• Take part in risk assessments and formulationof method statements toassistin safe undertaking of any activity.

• Identifyparts for the purchasing of goodsand services where these are necessary to conclude work.

• Fix breakdownsin a timely mannerduring their shifttimeframe

• Level one problem solvingincludingcomponentfailure analysis

• Detailed entry into Atlasof all breakdowns / known jobs.
