Job summary

Mars Petcare Melton Mowbray factory is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a high-speed food processing team. You will drive reductions in downtime with strong problem solving, root-cause analysis, and hands-on fault finding on complex equipment including robotics and PLCs.

Expect a 12-hour shift pattern (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off) and a comprehensive benefits package, including a welcome bonus and industry-leading development opportunities at Mars University, aligned with Mars

Qualifications

• Higher Certificate or Higher Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline, with practical experience.
• Proven FMCG industry experience.
• Strong root cause analysis and fault-finding skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PI ProcessBook and SAP Planned Maintenance.
• Competent in risk assessment and change control processes.

Responsibilities

• Fault finding and problem solving across a range of equipment.
• Deliver maintenance activities to ensure production availability.
• Participate in risk assessments and prepare safe method statements.
• Identify parts for purchasing to complete work.
• Fix breakdowns promptly during shift times.
• Document breakdowns and known jobs in Atlas.

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified to a minimum of Higher Certificateor Higher Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline, supported by practical experience

• Proven technicalexpertisewithin a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.

• Strong problem-solving capability, with experience in root cause analysis of technical issues.

• Proficient in key systems and tools, including Microsoft Excel, PI ProcessBook, and SAP Planned Maintenance.

• Competent in risk assessmentand change control processes, ensuring compliance and safe working practices.

• Experienced in leading root cause analysisand fault-finding investigations to drive sustainable improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Ability to fault find and problem solveon a broad range of equipment in a variety of situations.

• Effective delivery of maintenance activities, to ensure smooth transition between maintenance and production availability of equipment.

• Take part in risk assessments and formulationof method statements toassistin safe undertaking of any activity.

• Identifyparts for the purchasing of goodsand services where these are necessary to conclude work.

• Fix breakdownsin a timely mannerduring their shifttimeframe

• Level one problem solvingincludingcomponentfailure analysis

• Detailed entry into Atlasof all breakdowns / known jobs.
