Job summary

Wates is seeking a skilled Floor Layer to join the WPS Responsive team in Skelmersdale. You will install vinyl, carpet tiles and safety flooring, prepare subfloors and complete repairs in occupied or void properties while delivering quality and safety standards.

The role requires experience in social housing or responsive repairs, a full UK driving licence and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. DBS check may be required at offer stage.

Responsibilities

• Install vinyl, carpet tiles and safety flooring across properties.
• Prepare subfloors using screed, plywood and latex compounds.
• Carry out flooring repairs and replacements in occupied and void properties.
• Ensure work meets high quality standards and complies with health and safety regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service while liaising with tenants and clients to minimise disruption.

• Installing a wide range of flooring types including vinyl, carpet tiles, and safety flooring
• Preparing subfloors using screed, plywood, and latex compounds
• Completing flooring repairs and replacements in occupied and void properties
• Ensuring all works meet high quality standards and comply with health & safety regulations
• Providing excellent customer service while liaising with tenants and clients to minimise disruption
• Proven experience as a floor layer-ideally within social housing or responsive repairs
• NVQ Level 2 in Floorcovering Occupations or equivalent (desirable)
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• A full UK driving licence

• Willingness to undertake a Basic DBS check at offer stage
