Job summary

Wates Smartspace is seeking a skilled Floor layer to join the WPS Responsive team in Skelmersdale. You will install vinyl, carpet tiles and safety flooring, prepare subfloors, and carry out repairs in occupied and void properties, ensuring high quality and safety standards.

The role requires proven flooring experience, the ability to work independently or in a team, and a full UK driving licence. NVQ Level 2 in Floorcovering is desirable, and a Basic DBS check may be required at offer stage.

Responsibilities

• Install a wide range of flooring types including vinyl, carpet tiles, and safety flooring.

• Complete flooring repairs and replacements in occupied and void properties.
• Ensure all works meet high quality standards and health & safety regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service while liaising with tenants and clients to minimise disruption.

We're looking for a talented and versatile Floor layer to join our WPS Responsive team based in Skelmersdale. If you're skilled in domestic flooring installation and take pride in delivering a high quality finish, we'd love to hear from you.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong experience in domestic flooring, particularly within social housing, responsive repairs, or maintenance environments.

What You'll Be Doing

• Installing a wide range of flooring types including vinyl, carpet tiles, and safety flooring

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a floor layer—ideally within social housing or responsive repairs
• NVQ Level 2 in Floorcovering Occupations or equivalent (desirable)
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• A full UK driving licence
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to undertake a Basic DBS check at offer stage
