Job summary

18 Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Floor Layer to join our Major Works and Voids team covering East London.

You will install and repair vinyl, safety flooring, LVT, carpet tiles and laminate in social housing properties, including voids and occupied homes, while delivering high workmanship and strict health and safety practices. A full UK driving licence is required and a company van is provided.

We offer overtime, 25 days leave, PPE and ongoing training in a stable, long-term role.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Floor Layer in social housing, property maintenance or construction.
• Competent in fitting vinyl, safety flooring, LVT and carpet tiles.
• Experience preparing subfloors using latex and other preparation materials.
• Experience working on void properties and major works programmes.
• Full UK driving licence.

Floor Layer - Social Housing (Major Works & Voids)

Location: East London (Tower Hamlets, Canning Town, Newham & Hackney)

Salary: £38,000 per annum

About the Role

Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Floor Layer to join our Major Works and Voids team covering East London.

Working across social housing properties, you will carry out high-quality flooring installations and repairs within void and occupied homes as part of planned refurbishment programmes and reactive maintenance works. We are looking for a reliable, customer-focused individual who takes pride in delivering excellent workmanship while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and repair a variety of floor coverings within social housing properties.
• Fit vinyl, safety flooring, cap and cove, sheet vinyl, LVT, carpet tiles and laminate flooring.
• Prepare subfloors, including latex screeding and making good surfaces before installation.
• Carry out flooring works within void properties and occupied homes.
• Complete repairs and replacements to agreed quality standards and within target times.
• Identify and report any additional repairs required.
• Work safely in accordance with company policies and current health and safety legislation.
• Maintain company tools, equipment and vehicle in good condition.
• Deliver excellent customer service while working in residents' homes.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Floor Layer within social housing, property maintenance or construction.
• Competent in fitting a wide range of floor coverings, including vinyl, safety flooring, LVT and carpet tiles.
• Experience preparing subfloors using latex and other floor preparation materials.
• Experience working on void properties and major works programmes.
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
