Job summary

Arup is offering an Industrial Internship in Flood Risk Management based in Birmingham or Cardiff. You will work with experienced professionals on real projects, gaining exposure to catchment science, GIS and hydraulic modelling while building your professional network for graduation.

The 10–12 month placement includes learning sessions with leadership, site visits to local projects, and opportunities to contribute to flood risk studies for major infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Studying towards a Bachelor’s or Masters degree in a relevant discipline such as Civil Engineering or Geography & Geospatial Science or Environmental Engineering.
• Experience with coding languages, digital development and use of specialist software would be an advantage.
• Familiarity with GIS and modelling tools is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of flood risk, drainage and hydraulic modelling studies for infrastructure projects.
• Assist with data collection, analysis and interpretation including GIS and modelling tools.
• Contribute to technical reports, flood risk assessments and client presentations.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical flood risk management solutions.
• Participate in site visits and project meetings to develop professional and technical skills.
