Job summary

Saab UK is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop and test safety-critical flight software for autonomous UAS. You will work with MATLAB/Simulink to create control laws, verify via bespoke simulations, and deploy to hardware for flight testing at our facility near Bedford.

The role involves contributing to standards, processes, and cross-disciplinary teamwork. You will interact with a multidisciplinary team, communicate findings through reports and customer presentations, and have

Qualifications

• Degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for algorithms and control laws.
• Hands-on experience designing and commissioning control systems.
• Knowledge of safety-critical software standards (e.g., DO-178).
• Existing SC Clearance or ability to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and test safety-critical flight control software.
• Generate software using MATLAB/Simulink for flight control laws and data manipulation.
• Deploy software to target hardware and conduct flight testing.
• Present testing findings in reports or customer-facing presentations.
• Contribute to SOPs, continuous improvement and team collaboration.
