Job summary

Saab UK in Bedfordshire seeks a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop, maintain and test safety-critical software for our autonomous aircraft. You will work with MATLAB/Simulink to create control laws, verify via simulations, deploy on target hardware, and conduct real-world flight tests at the nearby facility.

Qualifications

• Degree in aerospace engineering and understanding of flight mechanics.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for developing control algorithms.
• Hands-on experience designing and commissioning control systems.
• Knowledge of safety-critical software standards (DO-178) a plus.
• Active SC clearance or ability to obtain clearance.
• Experience with UAS and electrical/avionics systems.
• Familiarity with embedded real-time software and communication systems.
• Proficiency with Git for version control.
• Programming in C++, Python; Java exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and test safety-critical flight software.
• Define requirements and implement flight control laws.
• Use MATLAB/Simulink to generate software for target hardware.
• Deploy software and conduct real-world flight tests.
• Present testing results in reports or client briefings.
