Job summary

Randstad Education is recruiting a Teaching Assistant for day-to-day supply across Torbay primary schools. You will provide 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with SEN, adapting activities to suit individual learning needs and maintaining a calm, focused classroom environment.

The role requires resilience, patience and clear communication with school staff. DBS Update Service is preferred; Level 2/3 TA qualifications are highly valued and will help you succeed.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with primary-aged children with additional needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or complex needs).
• Patient, resilient and proactive approach to behavior and learning support.
• Strong communication to liaise with school staff.
• Enhanced DBS registered on Update Service (or willingness to apply).
• Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualifications valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide flexible 1:1 or small-group support to primary pupils with SEN.
• Adapt activities to match individual learning styles.
• Use visual schedules and sensory tools to support emotional regulation and engagement.
• Help build pupils' confidence, social communication, and independence.
• Collaborate with class teachers, SENCos, and school staff to maintain consistency.
