Job summary

Randstad Education in Torquay is seeking a Supply Teaching Assistant (Primary) to support pupils across local schools with reading, writing and maths during the September start. The role runs 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, term-time only, providing a stable pattern and local work.

No formal teaching qualification is required, but experience with children is essential. DBS via Update Service is preferred, with Randstad offering guidance and ongoing support from a dedicated education

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people (e.g., youth clubs, sports coaching, nurseries, care, volunteering).
• Hours: ability to commit to the 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM schedule.
• Key skills: excellent communication, patience, reliability, and a proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management.
• Working 1-on-1 or in small groups with pupils who need extra support in reading, writing, and maths.
• Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for children from Reception to Year 6.
• Adapting quickly to different school environments and team dynamics.
