Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a proactive Secondary Teaching Assistant for day-to-day supply at a Castle Cary school. You will support students in KS3/KS4, assist teachers, and help implement SEN support while promoting a positive, safe learning environment.

The role offers flexible days, weekly PAYE pay, and opportunities to gain varied secondary experience across subjects and year groups.

Qualifications

• Experience with young people (11–16) in school, youth work or care is preferred.
• Strong communication skills with an approachable manner.
• Proactive attitude to adapt to different classroom settings daily.
• Based in or able to commute to Castle Cary.
• GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths; TA qualification/degree is an advantage but not essential.
• Ability to obtain enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

Responsibilities

• Support individual students or small groups across KS3/KS4 in lessons.
• Assist teachers with classroom management and student engagement.
• Implement tailored support for SEN or additional learning needs.
• Promote positive behaviour and a welcoming learning space.
• Adapt to various subjects, ages, and environments throughout the day.
