Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a Secondary Teaching Assistant for day-to-day supply in Castle Cary. You will support pupils aged 11-16 across KS3/KS4, assist teachers, and help with SEN or additional learning needs while promoting a positive, safe learning environment.

Flexible, local work with a 8:30–3:30 schedule. DBS check likely required; GCSEs in English/Maths and a proactive, communicative approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people aged 11-16 preferred.
• Strong communication skills and approachable manner.
• Proactive attitude and ability to adapt to different classrooms daily.
• Based in or able to commute to Castle Cary easily.
• GCSE English and Maths at minimum; degree or TA qualification is an advantage but not essential.
• Must be willing to apply for/enhance DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Support individual students or small groups across KS3/KS4 (Years 7-11).
• Assist class teachers with general classroom support and keep students engaged.
• Help implement tailored support for SEN or additional learning needs.
• Promote positive behaviour and a welcoming, safe learning space.
• Adapt quickly to different subjects, age groups and environments.
