Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a Secondary Teaching Assistant for day-to-day supply at a Castle Cary secondary school. You will support students across Key Stage 3-4, assist teachers, and help create a positive learning environment.

The role offers flexible, local work with a friendly school community. A proactive attitude and ability to adapt to different subjects and classes are ideal; notice periods and DBS requirements may apply.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills with an approachable, confident manner.
• Proactive attitude and the ability to hit the ground running in different classroom settings each day.
• Based in or able to commute easily to Castle Cary.
• Minimum GCSE Grade C/4 in English and Mathematics. A degree or TA qualification (Level 2/3) is an advantage but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support individual students or small groups across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (Years 7-11) during lessons.
• Assist class teachers with general classroom support, keeping students focused and engaged in their tasks.
• Help implement tailored support for students with SEN or additional learning requirements.
• Promote positive behaviour and foster a welcoming, safe learning space.
• Adapt quickly to different subjects, age groups, and classroom environments throughout the school day.
