Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a flexible Secondary Teaching Assistant for day-to-day supply in a Castle Cary secondary school. You will support pupils 11-16 across multiple subjects, assist teachers in lesson delivery, and help implement targeted SEN support within a dynamic, supportive environment.

Ideal candidates will have GCSEs in English and Maths, a proactive attitude, and the ability to adapt to various classrooms. DBS updates are required or applicants must be willing to apply.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with young people (11-16) preferred.
• Strong communication and a proactive, adaptable approach.
• Based in or able to commute to Castle Cary.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or equivalent; degree or TA qualification is an advantage.
• DBS Enhanced Child Workforce on Update Service required or willing to apply.

Responsibilities

• Support individual students or small groups across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (Years 7-11) during lessons.
• Assist class teachers with general classroom support, keeping students focused and engaged in their tasks.
• Help implement tailored support for students with SEN or additional learning requirements.
• Promote positive behaviour and foster a welcoming, safe learning space.
• Adapt quickly to different subjects, age groups, and classroom environments throughout the school day.
