Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a Secondary Teaching Assistant for day-to-day supply at a friendly Castle Cary school. You will support pupils aged 11-16 across KS3/KS4, assist teachers and help maintain a positive learning environment.

This role offers flexible, term-time only hours, a paid weekly PAYE rate of £92.56–£95 per day, and the chance to gain varied experience across subjects. Candidates based in Castle Cary or close by are preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with young people in school, youth group, tutoring, or care setting preferred.
• Strong communication skills with an approachable manner.
• Proactive attitude and ability to adapt to different classroom settings.
• Based in or able to commute to Castle Cary.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or higher; TA qualification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support students or groups across KS3/KS4 during lessons.
• Assist teachers with classroom tasks and keep students engaged.
• Help implement tailored support for SEN or additional learning needs.
• Promote positive behaviour and a welcoming learning space.
• Adapt to different subjects and classrooms throughout the day.
