Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a Secondary Teaching Assistant for day-to-day supply at a Castle Cary secondary school. You will support students in KS3-4, assist teachers, and help manage student behavior while maintaining a welcoming learning space.

The role requires adaptability, reliable communication, and a proactive attitude. DBS update and eligibility to work in the UK are necessary, with term-time hours and a 8:30–3:30 schedule.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with young people in school, youth groups, tutoring, or care settings.
• Strong communication skills with an approachable manner.
• Proactive attitude and ability to adapt to different classrooms daily.
• Based in or able to commute to Castle Cary.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or equivalent; TA qualification is an advantage.
• Must hold or be willing to apply for an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS (Update Service).

Responsibilities

• Support students or small groups across KS3 and KS4 (Years 7–11) during lessons.
• Assist class teachers with general classroom support and student focus.
• Support SEN or other learning needs and tailored interventions.
• Promote positive behaviour and create a welcoming learning environment.
• Adapt quickly to different subjects, ages, and classroom settings throughout the day.
