Job summary

Cyngor Sir Ceredigion County Council is seeking a reliable Caretaker to join our school support team in Cardigan. The role covers site security, daily safety checks, minor maintenance, room setups, and ensuring cleanliness during school hours on-site.

We value independence, good communication, and a commitment to health & safety and safeguarding children. An Enhanced DBS check is required; training and ongoing professional development are provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain site security, including locking/unlocking premises, alarm systems, and keyholder duties.
• Carry out daily safety checks and report hazards or concerns.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs, and monitor heating and facilities systems.
• Support cleanliness and environmental standards, including waste management and outdoor upkeep.
• Undertake porterage duties such as moving equipment and supporting room setups.
• Complete required logs and follow school procedures.
• Promote and uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all times.
