Job summary

Locums First is seeking Locum Healthcare Assistants to support primary care teams in Wellington. The role offers fully flexible shifts across weekdays, evenings, and weekends, with sessions tailored to your availability and local GP practices.

Ideal candidates will have prior HCA experience in primary care or NHS settings, DBS clearance, and strong patient-facing skills for routine clinical tasks and health checks.

Qualifications

• Experience as HCA in primary care, community or NHS settings.
• Phlebotomy skills desirable.
• Ability to perform clinical observations confidently.
• Good communication and patient interaction skills.
• Adaptability across different primary care environments.
• Enhanced DBS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine patient observations such as BP, pulse and temperature.
• Assist in treatment room procedures under clinical supervision.
• Conduct ECGs and basic health checks.
• Assist with phlebotomy if trained.
• Provide lifestyle advice and basic patient education.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Support clinicians with general duties where needed.
