Job summary

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking Phlebotomists to work across its sites in Coventry and Warwickshire. The role includes in-patient and outpatient collections, with flexible shift patterns across 7 days.

Part-time slots (25.5 hours per week) are available, with potential for additional hours. Applicants should be trained to be flexible, capable of working across sites, and prepared for immunisation reporting and DBS checks as part of NHS employment.

Qualifications

• Basic numeracy and literacy qualifications required.
• NVQ level 2 in Laboratory and Associated Activities or prepared to work towards.
• Experience of working in a customer facing environment.
• NHS laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples from inpatients, outpatients, clinics, GP surgeries and homes as directed.
• Safe disposal of contaminated materials including sharps.
• Undertake reception duties to welcome and advise patients and staff.
• Sort and identify specimens received.
• Prepare samples for testing using separation techniques such as centrifugation and tapping off.
• Track and record samples to ensure information is available for the supervisor.
• Monitor and replenish medical stock.
• Assist with additional tasks and provide support as required.
• Participate in out-of-hours laboratory service as needed.
