Job summary

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Phlebotomist (Band 3) to deliver venepuncture and blood collection across Wycombe Hospital and affiliated sites. You will work 37.5 hours per week with weekend and evening work as required, in a supportive, patient-centred environment.

Qualifications

• GCSE pass in Math and English required.
• HCA or Nursing qualification desirable.
• NVQ in a Health Science or equivalent qualification existing.

Responsibilities

• Perform venepuncture and capillary blood sampling.
• Greet and communicate with service users with informed consent.
• Select tubes, draw order and needle size for each test.
• Provide clear pre-test instructions to patients.
• Support anxious or needle-phobic patients.
• Identify and escalate complications to Phlebotomy Supervisor.
• Retrieve and manage ward and outpatient phlebotomy lists.
• Maintain accurate audit records and pathology request forms.
• Assist training and induction of new staff.
• Maintain stocks of consumables and adhere to infection control policies.
• Work flexibly across multiple Trust sites as needed.

Education

GCSE pass in Math & English
