Job summary

The Redwell Medical Centre is seeking an experienced phlebotomist to join the treatment area team for 25 hours per week. The role involves venepuncture for adults and children, supporting the nursing and clinical team, and ensuring samples are correctly labelled and stored for transport.

Salary is £12.90 per hour with a permanent, part-time contract and flexible working pattern. Applicants should be prepared for occasional overtime shifts during leave or sickness cover.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within healthcare settings such as GP practice or hospital.
• Qualified/competent in venepuncture.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient consent for the collection of a blood sample.
• Perform venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols.
• Maintain accurate patient records on the clinical IT system and ensure specimens are ready for onward transportation.
• Ensure the correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples.
• Work with the nursing team and broader clinical staff as required.
• Be an integral part of the general practice team and act as chaperone when required.
