Job summary

East Sussex County Council’s Education Division's Interim Provision Service (IPS) is recruiting a Learning Mentor to support children and young people with EHCPs in the Hastings and Eastbourne areas. You will deliver mentoring directly in homes and in IPS centre, helping pupils through critical transition periods.

The role requires flexible, autonomous working, strong communication, and the ability to travel across Bexhill, Hastings and Eastbourne.

Qualifications

• Will undertake responsibilities in supporting children and young people with transition support.
• Be an effective learning mentor to support children and young people while awaiting a school placement.
• Have effective communication skills and an ability to work successfully with a wide range of people.
• Able to travel throughout Bexhill, Hastings and Eastbourne; own transport and driving licence essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentoring directly within young people's homes and in IPS centre.
• Conduct welfare checks and actively support teaching and learning within the IPS centre.
• Collaborate with multi-agency teams including parents, carers and teachers.
