Job summary

East Sussex County Council is seeking an experienced Learning Mentor to support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. The role includes delivering mentoring in homes, welfare checks, and supporting teaching and learning within the Interim Provision Service (IPS) centre.

You will work autonomously with families and schools, travelling across Bexhill, Hastings and Eastbourne, and you will join a committed team focused on improving outcomes for vulnerable

Qualifications

• Support children and young people with transition support and targeted interventions.
• Provide mentoring to those awaiting a school placement.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with a wide range of people.
• Travel across Bexhill, Hastings and Eastbourne; own transport and driving licence essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver personalised mentoring directly within young people's homes.
• Conduct welfare checks and support teaching and learning in a specialist IPS centre.
• Collaborate with multi-agency teams including parents, carers and teachers.
• Help shape the educational journey of vulnerable children during critical transition periods.
