Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to join our pool and work across secondary partnership schools in Sheffield and the surrounding areas. You will supervise lessons in the absence of the regular teacher, maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring students stay on task.

We welcome candidates with experience in education or youth work and offer flexible day-to-day opportunities, ongoing support from the Tradewind team, and competitive daily rates

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people, ideally in secondary education.
• Able to manage groups and maintain classroom discipline.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, punctual and professional, with a calm approach.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt to different schools.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes of secondary school students in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Deliver and explain pre-prepared lesson activities and instructions.
• Maintain a positive, calm and purposeful learning environment.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Ensure students remain on task and complete the work provided.
• Support students with their learning where appropriate.
• Take registers and maintain accurate records where required.
• Report any concerns, incidents or issues to the appropriate member of school staff.
• Follow school safeguarding, health and safety and other relevant policies.
• Build positive and professional relationships with students and school staff.
• Adapt to different school environments, routines and expectations.
• Contribute to the wider life and positive culture of the school when required.
