Job summary

Lancashire Constabulary is looking for a highly organised Workshop Controller to coordinate the day-to-day operations of our vehicle maintenance workshop and support the delivery of an efficient fleet service.

You will lead a sizeable technical team, prioritise workloads, monitor outputs, and ensure health and safety/COSHH requirements are met while maintaining strong liaison with frontline policing and other fleet users. Hybrid working options apply where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a time served technician in the motor industry.
• Experience of managing and leading a team of a substantial size in a demanding operational environment.
• Experience of managing, motivating and developing staff in order to achieve business objectives.
• Demonstrable experience of implementing People Management policies and procedures.
• Ability to apply a problem-solving approach and resolve issues in creative and innovative ways.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day operations of the vehicle maintenance workshop.
• Support delivery of an efficient fleet service.
• Prioritise, issue, and monitor work throughput with technical staff.
• Maintain a vehicle off-road management plan with daily reporting.
• Conduct health and safety inspections and maintain risk/COSHH assessments.
