Job summary

Dorset Council UK is recruiting a Team Leader in Fleet Services to oversee a team of Vehicle Technicians and prioritise workloads in a busy workshop.

You will ensure roadworthiness, legal compliance, and prompt maintenance of council vehicles, collaborating with DVSA regulatory requirements and other fleet specialists across the council.

Stock control, safety risk assessments, and efficient parts handling will be part of daily duties, with occasional travel to other depots as required.

Qualifications

• Experience leading vehicle maintenance teams.
• Knowledge of DVSA Operator Licence requirements.
• Ability to plan and prioritise workloads in a busy workshop.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day line management of Vehicle Technicians.
• Ensure vehicles are safe and legal.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and defect repairs.
• First point of contact for services/customers.
• Sign off safety inspection sheets.
• Order and manage parts.
• Maintain a safe and tidy workshop.
• Travel to other offices/depots occasionally.
