Job summary

Dorset Council's Fleet Services is seeking a Team Leader to manage Vehicle Technicians and prioritise workloads to keep council vehicles safe and compliant. You will provide technical support, oversee maintenance, and ensure DVSA and operator licence obligations are met.

The role requires strong organisation, calm under pressure, and effective liaison with officers across fleet offices. Occasional travel to other depots is required.

Qualifications

• Experience of line management or supervision of vehicle technicians
• Good organisational skills and ability to work under pressure
• Strong communication and customer service skills

Responsibilities

• Supervise and allocate work to Vehicle Technicians
• Oversee preventive maintenance and defect repairs to keep vehicles safe and roadworthy
• Sign off safety inspection sheets and ensure they are legally compliant
• Order, receive and account for parts for the workshop
• Liaise with Technical Officers and other fleet offices
• Maintain a clean, safe and compliant workshop
• Travel occasionally to other offices and depots as needed
