Job summary

Omega Plc in Chippenham is recruiting a Fleet Maintenance Controller to help manage a diverse UK fleet. You will assess maintenance requests, liaise with workshops and customers, and ensure accurate records while driving value and uptime.

The role is hybrid, following probation and training, and requires a qualified technician with strong cost-control and supplier-management skills.

Qualifications

• Qualified Vehicle Technician with City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, IMI, or equivalent automotive qualification.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Experience in fleet management, service advisory, warranty or engineering environments.

Responsibilities

• Assess and authorise vehicle maintenance and repair requests, ensuring work is necessary and cost‑effective.
• Challenge suppliers and repairers to ensure best value and compliance with standards.
• Monitor downtime and proactively manage repairs to maximise fleet availability.
• Liaise with workshops, customers and suppliers to provide progress updates.
• Ensure maintenance records, authorisations and vehicle information are recorded accurately.
• Review estimates and invoices for correct pricing and procedures.
• Escalate technical, commercial or customer concerns when required.

Working as part of a busy maintenance team, you will play a key role in controlling vehicle repairs, reducing downtime, managing costs, and delivering exceptional customer service to fleet clients. Responsibilities - Fleet Maintenance Controller Assess and authorise vehicle maintenance and repair requests, ensuring work is necessary, cost-effective, and completed within agreed labour times. Challenge suppliers and repairers where appropriate to ensure best value and compliance with maintenance standards. Monitor vehicle downtime and proactively manage repairs to maximise fleet availability. Liaise with workshops, customers, and suppliers to provide updates on repair progress and expected completion times. Ensure all maintenance records, authorisations, and vehicle information are accurately recorded within company systems. Review estimates and invoices to ensure correct pricing and repair procedures have been applied. Escalate technical, commercial, or customer concerns when required. Deliver a high standard of customer service while working to deadlines, KPIs, and service level agreements.
