Job summary

South Western Railway is seeking a capable Area Manager to oversee Duty Station Managers and drive excellence in customer service, safety, and station operations across multiple locations. You will lead staffing, training and performance improvements while managing budgets and ensuring adherence to SWR policies.

The role requires strong leadership, communication and a proactive approach to safety and service delivery, with the ability to adapt strategies for local stations and events.

Qualifications

• Experience in a customer service environment, preferably in transport or security.
• Understanding of staffing costs and rostering is desirable.
• Proven leadership and coaching ability are essential.
• Ability to influence behaviour around customer service and safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Duty Station Managers to deliver outstanding customer service, safety, train running performance and station presentation.
• Manage budgets and drive cost efficiency while maintaining safe, reliable operations.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimise station environments and retailing activities.
