Job summary

DHL Daventry is seeking a motivated First Line Manager to lead operational teams on the Tyre Contract. You will drive performance, coach staff, and ensure safe, efficient delivery in a fast-paced logistics setting.

The role requires strong people leadership, experience within logistics, and proficiency in Excel and WMS tools. A valid MHE license is advantageous. This permanent full-time position offers on-site work with a supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day performance and achieve customer KPIs and internal KPIs.
• Ensure staff are trained to SOPs and maintain training records.
• Conduct 1-2-1 reviews, coaching, and development plans.
• Support performance management, communications, and disciplinary processes.
• Ensure compliance with policies, quality and safety standards.
• Handle operational issues and incident resolution.
• Assist day-to-day operations, including tyre handling.

Position: First Line Manager
Location: Daventry (NN11)
Grade: RCS. N
Shift patterns: Sunday-Thursday. Night shift (21:00-06:00)
Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)

Ready to lead from the front? We're looking for a motivated First Line Manager to join our DHL Tyre Contract in Daventry. You'll inspire and develop operational teams, drive performance, and ensure safe, efficient delivery in a fast-paced logistics environment. WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Supervise day-to-day performance, including achievement of agreed customer KPIs and other internal KPIs (eg. safety, operational, employee related etc)
• Ensuring staff are trained to the correct standard to perform duties as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP`s) whilst maintaining records so that training needs are observed and actioned
• Deliver team member performance reviews (1-2-1's), development and/or succession planning, providing coaching as appropriate
• Support and contribute towards briefing activities such as performance management appraisals, comms zone briefs, PD boards, disciplinaries and grievances, investigations, informal / formal conversations
• Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety procedures
• Handle operational issues, escalations, and incident resolution
• To support and get involved with day to day operations needs, such as manual handling of tyres

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO

• Previous people management experience (First Line Manager/Shift Manager/Team Leader) is essential
• Experience within the Tyre industry would be desirable
• Holds a valid MHE License (Forklift - Counterbalance/Reach) would be advantageousExcellent communication skills - Verbal and written
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, motivation and planning skills
• Good analytical and numerical skills
• IT literate - WMS and Microsoft packages
