Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Fire Suppression Pre-Sales Engineer in the United Kingdom. You will design medium to high complexity fire suppression systems, develop layouts and calculations using AutoCAD and BIM, and provide technical leadership across sales, proposals, and delivery teams.

You will review requirements, ensure compliance with standards, mentor junior engineers, and stay current with evolving fire protection technologies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in fire protection or related engineering.
6+ years of fire suppression or life-safety design experience.
Experience designing medium to high complexity fire suppression systems.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, BIM, and other design tools.
Knowledge of fire protection standards and regulations.
Experience producing technical drawings and calculations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
Ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

Design medium to high complexity fire suppression system solutions in support of sales opportunities.
Develop system layouts, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation using AutoCAD, BIM, and other design tools.
Review customer requirements, project specifications, and applicable industry standards to create compliant solutions.
Collaborate with sales teams to provide technical support during customer meetings, presentations, and bid submissions.
Produce accurate engineering estimates and technical proposals to support project delivery.
Conduct design reviews and quality control checks to ensure engineering deliverables meet company standards.
Liaise with customers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to optimise solution design and project outcomes.
Support value engineering initiatives to improve system performance and cost efficiency.
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate engineers.
Stay current with fire suppression technologies, regulations, and industry best practices.
