Searchability is seeking a Fire and Security Engineer to cover the South/M4 Corridor, focusing on CCTV, intruder alarms, and access control. The role is field-based with installation and service responsibilities in a central Southern patch including Reading, Bracknell and Basingstoke.
Ideal candidates have completed a Fire and Security apprenticeship or equivalent, with hands-on field experience and a willingness to travel UK-wide. Training and progression are available within a supportive team.
We’re working with an established Fire andamp; Security organisation that is continuing to expand its engineering presence across the South.
They’re now looking for a Fire andamp; Security Engineer to cover their central Southern patch, ideally based around Reading, Bracknell, Basingstoke or the surrounding M4 corridor.
This could be particularly well suited to someone who has completed their apprenticeship, gained some hands‑on field experience and now wants an environment where they can properly develop as an engineer. More experienced engineers will equally be considered.
You’ll work across both installation and service, supporting a varied portfolio of Security systems with a particular emphasis on CCTV and Intruder Alarms.
You’ll also gain exposure to Access Control, IP-based systems and Fire Security technology, working alongside experienced engineers who can support your continued technical development.
The ideal location is around Reading, Bracknell, Basingstoke or the wider M4 corridor. This puts you centrally between the existing engineering teams and close to a significant proportion of the organisation’s Southern customer base.
There will occasionally be requirements to travel further afield, including London and other UK locations, but the aim is to manage work geographically and keep engineers relatively local wherever possible.
You’ll have access to experienced technical support and hands‑on mentoring, including support from the Southern Team Leader. It’s a good opportunity for somebody who already has the foundations but wants to keep learning and take on more responsibility as their experience develops.
The company has a strong history of developing people internally, with engineers progressing into Team Leader and management positions. For someone who wants to build a career rather than simply move into another engineering job, there’s a clear route available.
