Job summary

Searchability is hiring a Fire & Security Engineer for the North West region. The role focuses on installation and commissioning of CCTV, intruder and access control, with some fire system work.

You will service, fault-find and perform reactive tasks, with occasional call-outs. You’ll travel across Manchester, Wigan, Blackburn and surrounding areas, and work within an engineering team that supports progression into leadership roles.

Qualifications

• Experience in Fire & Security industry with installation and commissioning
• Strong CCTV and Intruder alarm knowledge required
• IP-based security systems experience essential; Access Control beneficial
• Fire Alarm experience beneficial but not essential; ability to service and diagnose faults

Responsibilities

• Install and commission CCTV, Intruder, Access Control and Fire systems on varied projects
• Carry out servicing, fault finding and reactive works; occasional call-outs
• Travel within the North West; occasional further travel and overnight stays as required
• Work as part of a team while retaining independence and problem-solving ability

ABOUT THE CLIENT

We’re working with an established Fire andamp; Security organisation with a long-standing engineering team and an excellent track record of developing people internally.

Due to continued growth, they’re looking for an experienced Fire andamp; Security Engineer to strengthen their North West operation. This particular position is predominantly focused on installation, while still supporting service requirements when needed.

THE FIRE andamp; SECURITY ENGINEER ROLE:

This is a hands-on position for an experienced engineer who enjoys installation but is comfortable working across both installation and service.

Your main focus will be Security systems, particularly CCTV and Intruder, alongside Access Control and some Fire systems. You’ll install and commission systems across projects of varying sizes while also carrying out servicing, fault finding, reactive works and occasional call-outs where required.

Day-to-day, the business aims to keep engineers within roughly an hour of home wherever possible. They do operate nationally, however, so there will occasionally be further travel and working away with notice.

You’ll be joining one engineering team rather than being restricted to a single install or service department, giving you plenty of variety and the opportunity to broaden your technical experience.

There’s also genuine scope to progress. Engineers within the business have moved into Team Leader and management positions through structured development plans, so if you want to progress beyond the tools longer term, there’s a route to do it.

FIRE andamp; SECURITY ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Strong Fire andamp; Security industry experience
• Proven installation and commissioning experience
• Strong CCTV and Intruder Alarm knowledge
• IP-based security systems experience
• Experience with Access Control systems beneficial
• Fire Alarm experience beneficial but not essential
• Confident servicing, diagnostics and fault finding
• Ability to work independently and solve technical problems logically
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Comfortable with occasional UK travel / working away

Experience across systems such as Galaxy, Texecom, Paxton, Axis, Honeywell, Samsung, Morley, Advanced or Kentec would also be beneficial.
