Job summary

Citizens Advice 1066 is seeking a compassionate Financial Wellbeing Adviser to support people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. You will work with Seaview Project to provide practical advice, increase income, reduce debt and promote independent living through person-centred support.

You will deliver specialist financial inclusion help, build trust with clients facing challenges, and collaborate with housing providers and partner agencies to improve outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of welfare benefits, debt and financial inclusion.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable adults through advice, support or casework.
  • Understanding homelessness, poverty and social exclusion challenges.
  • Ability to build trust with clients reluctant to access support.
  • Strong communication, organisational and advocacy skills.
  • Commitment to person-centred, non-judgemental support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide welfare benefits, debt, budgeting and financial capability guidance.
  • Help clients maximise income via benefits, grants and similar support.
  • Assist with rent, bills and debts to sustain housing.
  • Conduct holistic assessments and create tailored support plans.
  • Collaborate with Seaview, housing providers and local services.
  • Advocate for clients to access specialist support and maintain records.

Citizens Advice 1066 is looking for a compassionate and motivated Financial Wellbeing Adviser to work in partnership with Seaview Project, supporting people who are experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness, or moving into settled accommodation.

This is an opportunity to join two well-established local organisations working together to help some of the most vulnerable people in our community. By providing practical advice, support and advocacy, you'll help clients improve their financial wellbeing, maximise their income, manage debt and develop the skills needed to maintain independent living.

About the role

Working closely with Seaview staff, housing providers and partner agencies, you'll deliver specialist financial inclusion support using a person-centred and trauma-informed approach. You'll build trusted relationships with clients facing a range of challenges, including homelessness, poor mental health, substance misuse, social exclusion and financial hardship

What you'll be doing
  • Providing advice and casework on welfare benefits, debt, budgeting and financial capability.
  • Supporting clients to maximise income through benefits, grants and other financial assistance.
  • Helping people manage rent, household bills and debts to maintain stable housing.
  • Carrying out holistic assessments and developing support plans.
  • Working collaboratively with Seaview, housing providers and other local services.
  • Advocating on behalf of clients and helping them access specialist support.
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to high-quality service delivery.
We're looking for someone who:
