Job summary

Citizens Advice 1066 is seeking an Assessment Officer to support our Crisis Payments Service. You will assess applications, make evidence-based decisions and help clients access wider support to build financial resilience.

You’ll conduct interviews, maintain records, identify safeguarding concerns and signpost to additional services while working with local partners to deliver practical guidance.

Qualifications

  • Experience in assessment, casework, customer support or interviewing.
  • Ability to make balanced, evidence-based decisions.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality protocols.

Citizens Advice 1066 is seeking a compassionate and motivated Assessment Officer to join our Crisis Payments Service.This role is at the heart of delivering emergency financial support to residents experiencing hardship.

You’ll assess applications, make evidence-based decisions, identify safeguarding concerns and help people access wider support that can improve their long-term financial resilience.

What you’ll be doing
  • Assessing applications against eligibility criteria
  • Conducting client assessment interviews
  • Making award recommendations
  • Identifying safeguarding concerns and escalating where required
  • Maintaining accurate records and case information
  • Signposting and referring clients to additional support services
  • Working closely with local partners and stakeholders
We’re looking for someone who:
  • Has experience in assessment, casework, customer support or interviewing
  • Can make balanced and evidence-based decisions
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understands safeguarding and confidentiality
  • Is organised and able to manage competing priorities
  • Enjoys helping people through challenging situations

Knowledge of welfare benefits, debt, housing or financial inclusion is desirable but not essential.
