Job description

Our team supports top-tier financial institutions in managing and implementing change, driven by new regulations and risks.

We specialise in providing innovative advice, offering clients services that help them manage regulatory compliance, corporate governance and operational risk as well as helping them to improve firm-wide culture. We also develop and implement technology solutions that will help financial organisations to meet their regulatory requirements. We support a wide range of firms from retail banks to insurers, as well as asset and wealth managers, investment banks, and payments and digital asset firms.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?

You’ll need to have obtained or be studying towards a minimum 2:1 in any degree discipline and have graduated by September 2027 for the Autumn 2027 intake .

We have identified 10 core skills that are essential to all our roles in Early Careers. To learn more about these skills and their detailed descriptions, please visit the 'Discover What We Look For' section in our Candidate Zone .

What kind of work will I do?

Our clients are typically some of the largest and most influential organisations in the financial services sector, including:

  • Banks
  • Insurance Firms
  • Consumer Credit firms (e.g. Buy-now-pay-later firms)
  • Asset Managers
  • Investment Banks
  • Payments and Digital Asset firms

We often work with senior stakeholders such as Chief Risk Officers, Chief Compliance Officers and Chief Operating Officers, to deliver risk management capabilities that are tailored to the individual characteristics of the client and the risk sophistication of the Board of Directors.

The work we do supports clients in navigating the regulatory agenda, so keeping up to date with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA) is a key part of the role.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be involved with:

  • Analysis of client documentation e.g. policies, customers journeys, risk management frameworks
  • Development of client deliverablese.g. reports or slides in Microsoft PPT (such as for a Board pack or training materials)
  • Speaking to clients and delivering workshops to facilitate discussion and decision making
  • Research and analysis on industry and business trends including supporting to develop eminence e.g. Blog posts and publications

The project-based nature of the role offers diverse experiences and means that you will be constantly meeting new people, requiring you to build strong relationships with colleagues across Deloitte and clients. No two projects and no two clients are the same, therefore getting up to speed with a client’s organisational structure, requirements, supporting operations and risks is key. Success requires an eye for detail, good time management, eagerness to learn, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Where will I work?

At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you’re in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.

All our work spaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team. You can find further information on our parent and carer policies here.

An important part of your personal development is ensuring we give you the opportunity to complete both internal and external training. The completion of training will help both your technical and soft skills. You will complete a qualification with the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) – Level 4 UK Regulation and Professional Integrity and Level 6 Regulation and Compliance – to attain relevant technical knowledge for your role with us. You will also have access to Deloitte-wide courses, including innovation, solutions and sector-specific training.

No prior regulatory knowledge is required , however a broad interest in current affairs and the financial services sector is helpful.
