Job summary

National Wealth Fund is seeking a Financial Crime Manager for a five‑month contract in the Leeds region. The role sits in the Risk & Compliance function and involves enhancing the financial crime framework, delivering a proactive second line strategy, and managing due diligence for new and existing clients.

The successful candidate will lead the Financial Crime team, provide expert guidance to the first line, monitor controls, and liaise with regulators, law enforcement, and senior management.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in financial crime within a regulated environment.
• Experience developing and implementing financial crime frameworks.
• Experience in risk assessments and investigations related to financial crime.
• Experience in managing teams and meeting deadlines.
• Experience in investment banking / infrastructure finance is desirable.
• Public sector regulation experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Compliance Manager in delivering the Compliance strategy and policies to promote a strong compliance culture.
• Develop, implement and maintain the Financial Crime framework; embed it across the Fund.
• Conduct financial crime risk assessments and oversee client risk assessments.
• Ensure customer due diligence meets FCA, ML Regulations and JMLSG guidance.
• Provide expert advice to the first line of defence on financial crime matters.
• Monitor and review the effectiveness of financial crime controls and recommend improvements.
• Assist investigations into financial crime incidents and report findings to senior management.
• Participate in audits and work with audit teams; provide documentation as needed.
• Develop and deliver training on financial crime prevention to colleagues.
• Prepare regular reports on financial crime risks to Executives and the Board.
• Stay updated with regulatory developments and horizon scan for relevance.
• Oversee and mentor direct reports; support professional development.
• Collaborate across lines of business to deliver integrated assurance.
• Engage with regulatory bodies and other stakeholders as required.
