Job summary

Rutherford Briant is exclusively recruiting a Financial Controller for a PE-backed specialist services business in Essex. You will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and work closely with the CFO and senior leadership to drive robust financial control and commercial insight.

This role focuses on strengthening controls, reporting, and systems while supporting acquisition activity and ensuring finance provides the insight required for confident decision-making in a growing group.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant or strong qualified-by-experience candidate.
• Experience in managing a busy finance function.
• Strong in management reporting, cash flow, controls and statutory requirements.
• Commercially aware and confident with operational leaders.
• Comfortable improving systems and processes within a changing business.
• Able to balance hands-on delivery with longer-term development.
• Ambitious, adaptable and keen to grow with the company.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day finance function and deliver robust financial control.
• Strengthen reporting, controls, and processes across the finance function.
• Lead on systems improvements and contribution to finance transformation.
• Support integration of acquisitions and provide insight for decision-making.
• Collaborate with CFO and senior leadership to drive commercial growth.
