Financial Controller and Company Secretary

The role is hands-on, with the Financial Controller responsible for daily accounting and finance matters, and leading financial strategy. The role supervises one direct report, with staff management and development responsibilities.

As Company Secretary, the individual ensures all secretarial functions are completed accurately and timely.

Key Responsibilities
Finance
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Preparation of interim and year-end statutory accounts, including audits
  • Managing daily accounting operations
  • Ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, including filings
  • Handling internal and external finance queries
  • Managing treasury functions
  • Handling corporate valuation matters
  • Assisting in ICARA preparation
  • Developing and delivering the Finance business plan
  • Maintaining relevant and up-to-date Finance policies
  • Leading finance-wide initiatives
  • Overseeing payroll and tax compliance for UK and overseas employees
  • Managing share transactions and related tax and secretarial matters
  • Overseeing pension arrangements and benefits
  • Ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance
  • Supporting accounts preparation for funds and ensuring tax compliance
  • Providing finance support to funds, including audit liaison
Other Ad-hoc Finance Tasks as Required
Company Secretarial
  • Preparing and delivering the Company Secretarial business plan
  • Supporting the Chair, Board, and Management Committee
  • Supporting other committee secretaries
  • Managing corporate filings and records
  • Maintaining constitutional documents
  • Managing dividends and profit shares
  • Performing other secretarial tasks as needed
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
  • Accountancy qualification (ACA or ACCA)
  • Post-qualification experience in investment management
  • Hands-on experience with UK and overseas tax and regulatory filings
Desirable
  • Investment Operations Certificate
  • Investment Management Certificate
  • Company Secretarial experience
  • US tax filing experience
