Financial Controller Role

About the Role

As the Financial Controller, you will report to the Group Finance Director and play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of financial management. You'll lead a dedicated finance team and collaborate across departments to support sound decision-making and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting cycles.
• Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage cash flow, optimise receivables and oversee outgoing payments.
• Ensure compliance with PAYE, VAT, Tax, and other HMRC requirements.
• Coordinate payroll processes with HR and external partners.
• Manage creditor payments, banking, insurance, and lease arrangements.
• Oversee standard costing and analyse manufacturing variances.
• Deliver actionable financial insights to guide strategic decisions, including:
• Weekly sales forecasts
• Business case evaluations
• Stock control and optimisation
• Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and internal policies.
• Lead the external audit process and manage auditor relationships.
• Mentor and develop a high-performing local finance team.
• Act as the Finance Key User for the ERP system, ensuring data integrity and process efficiency.
• Partner with department heads to identify and drive cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.

About You

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role within the manufacturing sector.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and relevant financial regulations.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical skills with a proactive problem-solving mindset.
• Proven leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
