Description:

SF Recruitment is delighted to be exclusively partnered with a privately owned, high-growth group of businesses (group turnover approx £55m) based in Burton-on-Trent. The organization is experiencing sustained growth through organic means and strategic acquisitions.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the business and work closely with the CFO, playing a key role in financial management. You will be a vital part of the finance team, providing accurate and insightful financial information to support decision-making and growth. You will also help shape the future growth of the interconnected business entities, contributing to long-term profitability and leading the development of the finance team.

The role involves leading and delivering special projects such as process improvements, system upgrades, or supporting new business integrations. You will also drive financial efficiency initiatives, support business growth, and enhance financial reporting across the network.

Note: Travel to a larger business site in West Birmingham may be required once or twice a week.

Package:

  • Salary: circa £70,000 per annum, depending on experience

About the role:

Leading a finance team of three (1 management accountant and 2 finance assistants), you will collaborate with internal stakeholders including operations, sales, and finance, as well as key customers and suppliers.

Key responsibilities include:

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances, providing insights to management.
  • Work with operational management to understand performance and profitability drivers.
  • Provide financial commentary to support strategic decisions.

Sales and Receivables Management

  • Manage accounts receivable, ensuring timely collections.
  • Coordinate with sales teams to optimize revenue and billing processes.

Cost Control and Expense Management

  • Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and prepare cost reports.
  • Assist management in setting and managing budgets.

Compliance and Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and industry regulations.
  • Manage tax filings and liaise with auditors.
  • Prepare reports for HMRC and Companies House, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Lead annual budgeting processes, including sales, expenses, and capital planning.
  • Monitor budgets, analyze variances, and advise on corrective actions.
  • Forecast cash flow to ensure liquidity for operations and investments.

Internal Controls

  • Implement and maintain internal controls to protect assets and prevent fraud.
  • Conduct internal audits and risk assessments.

Payroll

  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage pension contributions and tax reporting related to payroll.
  • Prepare statutory payroll reports and stay updated on legislative changes.

About You:

You will be a fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) accountant with relevant experience. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero) and data analysis tools (Excel, PowerBI) is essential. You should possess strong analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and excellent communication skills. Industry experience in automotive is advantageous but not required.
