Finance Manager / Financial Controller

We're looking for a Finance Manager / Financial Controller to join our growing FinOps team to deliver Smart Finance Function services to a portfolio of clients in our key sectors: Tech, SaaS, and e-commerce, predominantly in the London and South East region. You may also be involved in other propositions supporting your clients' journey.

You will work within a pod to deliver all aspects of our Smart Finance Function, with a focus on management insight. This role involves using the latest accounting technology with high expectations for delivery and client value.

What you’ll be doing

You will have responsibility for:

1. Leading a pod team of 8 with oversight, coaching, and support.
2. Supporting client transition and transformation into flinder.
3. Designing and building finance systems and working with data structures.
4. Improving processes for new clients using technology and streamlining workflows.
5. Supporting the design of bespoke client management information and data analytics.
6. Developing client process manuals.
7. Reviewing close activities and monthly working papers such as reconciliations, VAT returns, prepayments, accruals, and journals.
8. Using and reporting from cloud accounting systems (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks).
9. Reviewing management commentaries and management accounts.
10. Reviewing annual statutory accounts and corporation tax.
11. Responding to technical accounting queries.
12. Acting as the primary relationship owner for less complex clients.
13. Handling ad hoc requests and non-routine client questions.
14. Participating in ad hoc projects in an agile business environment.
15. Providing technical support to Portfolio CFOs.

Who we’re looking for

To be considered, you must have:

1. An accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent.
2. At least 2-3 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a small to mid-sized practice.
3. Extensive experience with bookkeeping, management accounts, consolidations, and finance processes.
4. Knowledge of the Companies Act requirements and UKGAAP.
5. Enjoyment in working with different clients and understanding their needs.
6. Experience managing multiple stakeholders.
7. Strong project management and multi-tasking skills.
8. Proficiency in Excel and other computer skills.
9. Experience with cloud accounting systems (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage One/Live).
10. Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
11. A proactive approach to questioning and improving processes.
12. Client satisfaction as a top priority.
13. Drive and ambition for progression within flinder, aiming to become Portfolio CFOs of the future.

• £55,000+ annual salary (depending on experience).
