Job summary

MacGregor Black is partnering with a growing fashion business to appoint a Finance Manager in Manchester. This hands-on role drives the day-to-day finance function, focusing on management accounts, cash flow and commercial performance.

You will own monthly accounts, forecast cash needs and support budgeting, with oversight of ledger functions and finance team development. Strong ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualifications are preferred, with experience in consumer/retail sectors seen as a plus.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent qualification at least part-qualified.
• Strong experience in management accounts, cash flow, P&L and balance sheet.
• Experience in fashion/retail/consumer or product-led businesses is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly management accounts including P&L and balance sheet.
• Manage cash flow, working capital and cash forecasting.
• Oversee Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger functions and collections.
• Provide analysis and commentary on business performance.
• Partner with commercial teams to drive revenue, margins and profitability.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Monitor KPIs and identify improvement opportunities.
• Ensure robust financial controls and processes, and lead the finance team.

MacGregor Black is partnering with a growing fashion business to appoint a Finance Manager.

This is a broad, hands-on role responsible for the day-to-day running of the finance function, with a strong focus on management accounts, cash flow and commercial performance.

Responsibilities

• Own the preparation and review of monthly management accounts, including P&L and balance sheet.
• Manage and monitor cash flow, working capital and cash forecasting.
• Oversee the Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing and collection.
• Review financial information and provide clear analysis and commentary on business performance.
• Partner with the Sales and wider commercial teams, providing insight into revenue, margins, customer performance and profitability.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Monitor key financial and commercial KPIs and identify areas for improvement.
• Ensure robust financial controls, reconciliations and processes are maintained.
• Manage and develop the wider finance team, providing day-to-day leadership and support.
• Support year-end, audit and statutory reporting requirements.
• Provide financial analysis and support to senior management on commercial decisions and business initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting and efficiency.

The Person

• Ideally ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, although part-qualified or qualified-by-experience candidates will be considered.
• Strong experience across management accounts, cash flow, P&L and balance sheet.
• Ideally from a fashion, retail, FMCG or wider consumer/product-led business.
• B2B experience would be highly advantageous, particularly exposure to customer accounts, sales ledger, credit control and commercial finance.
• Commercially minded, with the ability to understand and communicate the key drivers behind business performance.
• Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and non-finance teams.
• Hands-on, pragmatic and happy to take ownership across a broad finance remit.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger commercial picture.

£60,000 - £70,000 basic salary + benefits
